Renault Scenic Clay, Polish & Wax…

Another car to do – this one was more of a challenge. Aim was to restore paintwork condition, provide some gloss and protection to the body work. There is actual paintwork damage (dents, stone chips, etc) on the car – so its never going to get to 100% – otherwise the paint is has never been clayed, polished or waxed before. Secondary aim was to clean the interior.

This is also my first attempt with the Megs G220 Orbital polisher – and a set of soft pads! As this is the first attempt – I am not trying any “paint correction” – just using it as a quicker way to apply cleaner, polish and wax (all non-abrasive products).

    Worked well?

  • Machine polisher!
  • Tape!
  • A pot of hot water to soften the clay!
  • What didn’t go so well:

  • Worked too fast -tried to do to many panels at once – hence haven’t got quite the finish I’d of liked.
  • Didn’t dry the headlights and grills enough – so polished with some water! Doh
  • Despite scrubbing, the back of the alloys remained very dirty. Will have to investigate what can be done…
  • Need either to use more clay or a more aggressive clay to clean the bottom of the doors – where there is more bonded contamination present. Thinking of this – Megs Mild Clay 200g
